Gratitude

In our opinion, there is no abundance without gratitude. It is so important to change your perception and attitude and to shift your focus from what you don’t have to focus on everything you do have and this creates the greatest shift. It is actually incredible how much you realise you have when you decide to start to notice by shifting focus from what you don’t have to what you do have.

It would be easy to say, “but I don’t have anything to be grateful for or I have reason to be down, unhappy, have a mindset of lack because of x, y and z.”  However, Victor Frankl in Man’s Search for Meaning was in a Nazi concentration camp and was still able to think above his current situation, as was Nelson Mandela and Gandhi.  Proof that no matter what our external circumstances and choices available to us, we always have a choice of how we choose to feel or perceive our life.

A great way to log our gratitude is one, by a list of all the things to be grateful for and keep adding to it as you become more aware or as good things start happening as a result of your shift in focus.  The universe brings you more of what you focus on, therefore focus on negative and you will receive more negative, or focus on positive and receive more positive.

Another great way is by keeping a daily gratitude journal where you write 5 things that you were grateful for that day. An idea I got from Sarah Ban Breathnach’s book Simple Abundance. A great book with lots of wonderful creative ideas and again about gaining clarity on who we are and what we want from life and about how we choose to look at life and the difference from having a more positive perspective.

Another person who talks of their gratitude journal is Oprah Winfrey and this seems to be an integral part of her day. It is plain to see that she is living a clearly abundant life. In addition, she attributes her abundance and position to grace. From her humble, troubled beginnings to the hugely successful empire she has built she knows that something bigger than her was behind it all, although she  had to find her passion, set her intention and then work hard to achieve her dreams.

Another truly inspirational person who attributes their wealth to a mindset of gratitude and also to grace is Tony Robbins. He believes wholeheartedly appreciating what he has and where he came from and in giving back – not just for giving sake or for tax purposes, but because he came from hard times and wants to help others in hard times. This he has the pleasure of doing through his calling as a mentor and strategic interventionist as well as his various other successful ventures, but additionally he finds ways of helping others through his foundation.

Here is an inspirational quote from his foundation website that we’ve also heard him quote in interviews – “the secret to living is giving.”  Also, in his book Money – Master the Game, he tells of how he asked Sir John Templeton, the multi-billionaire, “what’s the secret to wealth?” to which he answered “Tony, you know it, and you know it well.  You teach it to everyone.  It’s gratitude.”

All of the people mentioned are great examples of the transformative powers of gratitude, grace and of how finding your passion and doing what you love takes you to the place where everything else takes care of itself! Finding your passion, setting your intention and then going about executing the steps necessary to live the life you dream of.

Blessings of abundance!
